Your photos, your memories

Privacy notice.

Receipt Journey is in development. This notice describes its current data flow and will be updated as the service changes.

Receipt photos and records

When you submit a receipt, its original image is uploaded to our backend and sent to Alibaba Cloud for recognition. We process the shop name and address, country, transaction date and time, amount and currency, and any recognised item details.

The backend stores receipt and trip records, task status, recognition attempt counts, failure reasons, and photo identifiers or metadata used to associate results with the original photo. Upload data is retained while an upload or recognition task is unfinished. The backend clears the image request data when recognition finishes successfully or fails; it removes upload chunks after they are assembled. This does not describe any separate retention by Alibaba Cloud.

Dates, places, and your photo library

With your permission, the app reads selected receipt photos and updates their dates and locations in the iPhone system photo library. A library photo is updated in place. Photos taken with the app camera are saved to the library before their metadata is updated.

The app can read nearby photos to show related memories. It stores photo associations and metadata where needed for this feature. Receipt recognition uploads the photos you submit; it does not require uploading your entire photo library.

Optional current-location access is used to show your position on the map and provide travel context. You can manage camera, photo library, and location permissions in iOS Settings.

Google services and sign-in

Google Maps displays the map and helps resolve shop addresses and coordinates. Shop searches may include the recognised shop name and country; address lookups use the shop address. Those requests are processed by Google.

If you choose Google sign-in, we receive the Google account identifier, name, email address, and profile picture information made available by Google. These identify your account and display your profile. We do not receive your Google password.

Service providers and processing locations

The current app uses Alibaba Cloud for receipt recognition and Google for sign-in and map services. The configured Alibaba Cloud recognition endpoint is in Beijing, China. Data sent to these providers may therefore be processed outside your country.

Cloudflare hosts this website and provides DNS, HTTPS, traffic protection, and support email forwarding. Network information, including IP addresses, may be processed for these services. The website does not include advertising or analytics scripts.

Provider policies: Alibaba Cloud privacy, Google privacy, and Cloudflare privacy.

Control and deletion

Use Delete Data in the app to remove the current account’s cloud trip, receipt, task, and photo-association data. Delete Account also revokes sessions and removes the account. These actions do not remove images from your system photo library or undo metadata changes already applied there.

Deletion by the app does not automatically delete information independently retained by service providers under their own policies. For questions about your data or to request help with deletion, email [email protected].
